TPACK
Technology Pedagogy Content Knowledge or TPACK is a framework used to integrate technology into the curriculum. It is not a model to follow but a framework for integrating technology. Teachers commonly integrate technology by choosing powerpoints, animations or websites and plugging these into their lessons. This does not effectively match the technology to the content, the specific discipline or the strategies most effective for this age group. The TPACK framework requires the teacher to go further and consider how the technology will change or affect the actually learning taking place. With TPACK, technology is not an after thought but an integral part of lesson planning. It pushes teachers to not only learn to use a new piece of technology but to learn how to use it to support and enhance learning. Technology is not an activity but a tool used to teach more effectively and help the students meet the standards.
